The Steven Juba Park
Waterfront Drive, Winnipeg
Cost: Outdoors, free, no booking requiredParking: Metered Parking on street
A relatively newer park to the Winnipeg Downtown yet still VERY popular. This location offers a river view, nostalgic train bridge, walking bridge, laterned
pathways and nice park benches- there are a ton of different backdrops
for your wedding or family photos. I really like this park. Shade is
abundant, the colors
are beautiful in the summer and the fall and for a change of scenery it
is within close walking distance to many wonderful picture
opportunities in the East side of the exchange district!

Fort Gibraltar
233 Provencher Blvd.
Parking: Free- in large parking area outside the grounds
Although every wedding that I have shot on the grounds of Fort G. have had booked ceremonies indoors- it might be worth a call to inquire the availability for wedding photos on the grounds if you have taken a liking looks of the 1800 Red River setting.
I have always loved when my clients have a ceremony location here! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that the veranda to the main venue area provides cover from rain, sleet and the harsh sunlight of a sunny day!
The area is large, fairly private and offers a variety of settings as you can imagine are reminiscent of a settlement in the 1800's. Indoors, the lighting for ceremonies is typically good for natural lighting and flash photography.

The Train Bridge in Headingly
Cost: outdoors- free
The view from a far of this Headingly Bridge is worth the drive if your Wedding or Wedding Reception is taking place in Charleswood, The Gates or Breezy Bend. The height is majestic and nothing says wedding like train tracks (lol, just kidding- but the contrast of tracks and a hawt wedding party is great) Other wonderful aspects of this bridge are that there is a path underneath with a perfect view of the river and hills that work great for that crazy "jumping shot" The main "con" of this location is that there is absolutely no cover from the sun atop the bridge- which makes for some hard lighting on faces etc. Although action shots (kissing, dipping, walking) usually all look awesome in those circumstances

St Vital Park
Cost: Free
Parking: availiable on roadways and various lots around the park
When anyone has asked me about St. Vital Park- I simply answer "A park is a park"
Don't get me wrong- if trees and grass are what you are looking for and your venue is close by- this would work. I just don't find that there are any "park landmarks" here. Other than the duck pond, which is insanely busy on the summer weekends and flooded with geese and geese droppings in the fall :) what you get are a ton of trees and grass.
There are some beautiful clearings in between the trees though and a small bride and pathway on the North side of the park that make nice photos as well. The parking is great and there is a view of the Red River as well.

The English Gardens- Assiniboine Park
Assiniboine Park
Cost:
Parking: limited number of spots in front of entrance, over flow parking at zoo
This Garden is BEAUTIFUL! Meticulously cared for- something always seems to be in bloom! From colors, stone, bricks and pathways- this place has it all. Some areas are exposed to high sun and harsh light on sunny days- but there are different areas that are covered in trees- so shade can always been found for the perfect images! This Garden is open to the public- so expect a ton of foot traffic (especially on those nice days!)

Kings Park
Kings Drive
Parking- Ample in park's own parking lot
Located on Kings Drive in Fort Richmond, this park has lots of scenic areas to boast about. Red Bridges, a Chinese Rock Garden, a Bogota, ponds and hills are some of the picturesque views. During the summer time and on sunny days throughout the year though, some areas provide little shade which could prove to provide harsh lighting for subjects. I suggest a visit to scout the areas that you like (take your photographer!)
This park is also home to an off leash dog park- so there is a lot of public traffic- it also seems to be a photographer favorite!

The Basilica (Tache)
Cost: (There is a cost hourly- no information at time of publish)
Parking: Free along side streets and small parking in behind premises
Ahhhh- if you were a Winnipeg kid in a Winnipeg elementary school you will most certainly remember this place! A field trip spectacular- on Tache- this basilica once had devastating fire which destroyed all but the outer stone walls.
It is extremely popular for wedding photos- the stone walls, arched doorways and spectacular view of the site make this a winning location. I find that on sunny days it provides shade while in the structure- and in the winter it's even worth some shots as it sometimes even provides protection from some of that wind.
The pathway leading to the Basilica is well maintained - and the rod iron gates on Tache also make a wonderful photo opportunity.
I do warn my clients though, that this is an OUTDOOR location, so if you have booked this locale and it rains or snows you will not receive a refund. Also, this is open to the public, so expect some foot traffic sometimes requiring some patience to get those shots onto the front of the building .
The Esplanade- Provencher Bridge
Cost: outdoors- free
Parking: A bummer-
Although it's not the best for parking, the Esplanade (Provencher bride) has become a very popular location for wedding photos. Although I think it suits couple photos rather than large wedding parties- I have done all sorts of photos on the bridge. It doesn't provide shade, so photos taken there on an overcast day have been my favorite. There is a ton of foot traffic over this bridge though, so expect to share this space with the public- it isn't too hard to catch a break though for a stranger-less photo :) The East side of this bridge is also very close to the basilica...
